Troubleshooting

Quick fixes#

• Numbers look out of date: check the “updated” timestamp, then click Refresh from CORE. CORE changes also flow in automatically within about 30 minutes.
• “You're almost in” after sign-in: no dashboard assigned yet; your admin fixes this in Admin in under a minute.
• A KPI tile is greyed out: your firm's CORE subscription may not include that module, or your role doesn't include the tile. Hover for the reason.
• Can't edit the Staffing board: editing is for principals, studio leaders, and project managers.
• Time entry rejected: CORE enforces your firm's time rules; COREboards shows the reason CORE gave. Submitted entries need Unsubmit first.
• Advisor disappeared: check the ✦ switch and its per-surface checkboxes; if the switch is gone, your admin disabled it for your account.
• Sign-in loops: make sure you can log in to CORE directly first, then retry from coreboards.app.

The first load of the day is slow#

COREboards keeps a warm snapshot of your firm's CORE data so boards open in a second or two. Overnight that snapshot can go cold, so the first open of the morning may take noticeably longer while it rebuilds: that one wait warms it for everyone, and every load after it is fast again.

• You don't need to refresh or sign out; just let the first load finish.
• If every load is slow all day, that's not the snapshot: report it through Bugs & Requests so we can look.

Staffing publish reported conflicts#

Publishing writes your plan to CORE and then reports exactly what happened: how many allocations were created, updated, and removed, plus a list of anything that couldn't land, week by week, with the reason CORE gave.

• Conflicted items stay local: they keep their blue unpublished dot, so nothing is lost. Refresh the board (or wait for the automatic sync), review what changed underneath you, and publish again.
• “Couldn't add ⟨person⟩ to the CORE assignment list”: their planned hours did publish, but they can't log time to that project until someone with access adds them to the project in CORE. The firm's admins are emailed automatically when this happens.
• Two planners on the same board never overwrite each other silently: the last write wins per cell, and the publish review shows what changed before you confirm.

Calendar events aren't showing in the Time panel#

• Check the Calendars dropdown at the top of the panel: each linked account and each of its calendars can be shown or hidden, and a hidden calendar's events simply don't appear.
• Check the connection: open the calendar controls in the Time panel and look at your linked accounts. If a connection has expired or been revoked, disconnect and reconnect it; your logged time and learned rules stay, and events return once the new grant is in place.
• Google specifically — tick the calendar box. While COREboards is being verified by Google, the sign-in screen warns that the app isn't verified and leaves the calendar permission unchecked. If you click through without ticking it, Google connects your sign-in but not your calendar, so no events appear. Reconnect and, on Google's screens, choose Advanced → “Go to COREboards”, then tick “View events on all your calendars” before Continue. Microsoft 365 and Apple don't need this.
• Dismissed events stay dismissed: if you dismissed an event earlier, it won't come back as a suggestion. Personal (non-work) events are grouped separately rather than hidden.
• Newly created events can take a short while to sync; a refresh of the panel usually pulls them in.

A Notion page isn't in the picker#

The picker searches the pages your firm has shared with the COREboards integration in Notion. Two things trip people up:

• The page isn't shared with the integration yet. In Notion, open the page, choose its connections menu, and add the COREboards connection (a parent page's sharing covers its sub-pages).
• Notion hasn't indexed it yet. A newly shared page can take a few minutes to show up in search. You don't have to wait: paste the page's link into the “paste a Notion page link” field under the search box and it links instantly.

A tour won't start or skips steps#

• Steps are role-gated: a tour never points at a board you don't have, so for a non-editor the welcome tour simply skips Staffing, Forecast, and Projects. That's expected, not broken.
• The welcome tour runs from the Dashboard: starting it from another page first navigates you there, because that's where its stops live. Let it navigate.
• Already seen it? A finished tour doesn't restart on its own; replay it anytime from the ? menu. It only re-offers itself automatically when it has materially changed after an update.
